Melanie & Alan | Blacksburg, VA Engagement Photographer
Posted on July 27, 2010
I am not even sure where to start with these two. They were so fun to shoot and so sweet together. I mean, I just want to follow them around and photograph them all day long. Ok, so that might make me like the paparazzi but you get the picture. ![]()
Alan just got back from Afghanistan. Since he was away for most of their engagement Melanie told me she wanted some pictures of him in his uniform to remember this time in their relationship; and since Alan looks darn cute in it. (right, Melanie?).
Right as we arrive at the session it starts to downpour! We headed into our favorite tunnel at Virginia Tech to get some shots and wait for the rain to stop. A bunch of high schoolers who were on campus for basketball camp also had the same idea. It could have made for some awkward moments but these two were on the entire time.
Melanie, you are GORGEOUS!
They wanted a vintage feel to their photos. I enjoyed having the opportunity to play around with the photos and love how this one came out.
Alan tells the story of how they met so well. His eyes just sparkle as he tells it. Btw – they met at the supermarket!!
Melanie – here are some shots with your favorite umbrella!
Work it, Alan! Seriously, you need to be on the cover of GQ.
Our FAVORITE on the right. Words cannot describe how much we both love this photo. They just fit into each others arms perfectly. Melanie & Alan, we recommend getting a canvas of this one – we are!
How totally awesome is Melanie’s necklace?! I want one. I googled it and found out that it is from Forever 21. Ben – this would make a great gift.
Melanie wanted to make sure they got photos in front of a fence. Check! We love when couples come prepared with ideas. It helps make sure that they get photos that they will enjoy!
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – Every guy needs a Melanie and every girl needs an Alan.
Ahh, we love you guys and can’t wait till your wedding (and hopefully other sessions!). Thanks for being awesome.

Ann & Stephen | Blacksburg, VA Engagement Photographer

Meet Ann & Stephen. We met them at VT’s campus for their engagement session. We worked our way from the War Memorial Pylons to the Duck Pond and sought out every great spot that Tech has to offer. Their wedding is only a few short weeks away so you will be seeing a lot more of them!
Usually it takes couples a good half hour to warm up in front of the camera and get comfortable but these two worked it out immediately! Kissing and snuggling just comes natural to them.
Sitting at their favorite bench on the drillfield. We love that they allowed us to incorporate some of their favorite spots in their photos. We think it helps make the photo have that much more meaning to them.
Hokie Stone + viney goodness + two people in love = YAY!
Pssst…..this is actually the window of the bathroom at the Duckpond!
There is something about the photo on the left that I love! We try not to overprocess and overeffect our images but sometimes a photo just calls for something more.

Kristina & Chase | Harrisburg, PA Engagement Photographer
Posted on April 19, 2010
We traveled up to Harrisburg once again to shoot the engagement session of Kristina & Chase. Though it started out a bit chilly, it turned into a gorgeous day! We started at a spot that I had never been before, Italian Lake. Who knew that such a beautiful spot was smack in the middle of the city?
Holy blue sky! Sam’s favorite on the left.
Kristina has such a great laugh and you can tell that Chase is totally in love with her.
Hello bling!
How about some soft light? We love early morning sunlight.
How cute are these two?! Seriously! GAWK!
We moved from the pristine softness of Italian Lake to a gritty, urban location down by the river. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t as much gritty as it was just the backside of a bridge pillar; but you tell me they didn’t WORK IT OUT!?!
Kristina & Chase’s only request was to get some shots on the walking bridge to City Island but we didn’t realize that a Senators game was happening at the same time blocking the parking for the bridge – FAIL! So on to Plan B which was to go to the other end of the bridge and get some shots on that part of the bridge. Of course when we arrived we realized it was blocked off for safety reasons – MAJOR FAIL. Kristina & Chase were so flexible and ready for whatever we threw at them they didn’t seem to mind the disappointments in the slightest. Ben & I LOVE the outcome! Yay for Plan C!
Ben’s favorite. Doesn’t it look like happiness is just shining down on them! Too cheesy? Whatev – I think it does.
K&C – Can’t wait for your wedding in October! Thanks for going with the flow and being awesome.

Around Campus | Harrisburg, PA Engagement Photographer
Posted on March 25, 2010
You may remember these two from their wedding photos a few months ago. At that time we promised to post their engagement session, as well. Yeah, color us embarrassed! Months later we are finally getting around to posting their amazing engagement session. Better late than never right.
Brian & Jen meet at Bloomsburg University so we headed up to their campus and the surrounding area to take photos in some of their favorite spots and where they met.
LOVE this early morning light. I seriously could have shot photos here all day long.
We headed towards the main quad area to take advantage of the perfect sky and the new fountain that was recently added to the area.
Jen & Brian are so completely into each other. We love people in love!
Go Huskies!!
They used this photo for a thank you tag on their favors. Their wedding was on Oct 3rd so the 3 was appropriate.
We walked downtown to Harry’s where Jen & Brian first met. We were hoping to get some great photos inside but they were closed. Grrr. So we settled for some shots outside and then continued on to other areas downtown. What a gorgeous fountain.
Our last spot was at a nearby park. They had brought along their pup, Nikki so we got some family shots in near the river. Nikki is one good looking dog.
Thanks Jen & Brian for showing me around campus and where you guys met. It was a blast hanging out with you and Nikki!
Lots of Love.
